This privacy notice describes how Adjace (adjace.com), operated by The Deft Flux, LLC (“Deft Flux,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website and services. It applies to information collected through adjace.com, organization subdomains, and related Adjace applications.
This notice explains:
- What personally identifiable information we collect, how we use it, and with whom it may be shared.
- What choices you have regarding your information.
- How we protect your information.
- How we use SMS/text messaging for account verification and authentication.
Information collection, use, and sharing
To use Adjace, church administrators and directory users create an account. Depending on how you use the service, we may collect:
- Account information — such as your name, email address, and password.
- Mobile phone number — if you choose to add and verify a phone number for account security (see SMS section below).
- Directory and profile information — information you or your church provide or synchronize from Planning Center or other sources you authorize.
- Payment information — processed by our payment provider; we do not store full payment card details on our servers.
- Technical and usage information — such as cookies, browser type, and log data needed to operate and secure the service.
We collect information you voluntarily provide through registration, account settings, profile updates, and data synchronization you authorize. We use this information to operate the directory, authenticate users, provide support, process subscriptions, and improve the service.
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We do not and will not ever share your information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
We may share information with service providers who process data on our behalf only as needed to deliver the service, such as:
- cloud hosting and database providers;
- email delivery providers (for example, SendGrid);
- SMS delivery providers (for example, Twilio) to send one-time verification and login authentication codes you request;
- payment processors (for example, Stripe); and
- customer support and analytics tools.
These providers are permitted to use your information only to perform services for us and must protect it consistent with this policy and applicable law.
We contact church administrators from time to time by email about product updates, billing, and service announcements. We do not send marketing text messages to church/organization members.
SMS / text messaging (verification and two-factor authentication)
If you choose to add a mobile phone number in your Adjace account settings, you may receive automated one-time verification codes and login authentication (2FA) codes from Adjace. These messages are used only for account security — not for marketing or promotional purposes.
Opt-in. We send SMS messages only after you:
- enter your mobile phone number on the Add Phone Number form while logged in; and
- actively check the consent box and submit the form to request a verification code.
Message frequency. Message frequency varies based on your activity; typically one message per phone verification or login authentication attempt.
Rates. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan.
Help and opt-out. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out of SMS authentication codes. You may also remove your phone number or disable two-factor authentication at any time in your Adjace Account Settings.
Mobile information sharing. Mobile phone numbers collected for SMS authentication are used solely to deliver these security messages. We do not sell or share mobile numbers with third parties for their own marketing or promotional purposes. SMS delivery requires transmitting your number to our messaging service provider (Twilio) solely to send the messages you request.
Consent to receive SMS authentication codes is not required to use Adjace.
For more detail about the opt-in experience, see our Terms and Conditions.
Your access to and control over information
Church administrators control when membership data is synchronized to Adjace and which membership data is visible in the directory through organization settings.
You may update your account information, communication preferences, and verified phone number through your profile and account settings. You may remove your account and related data at any time. Users can remove their accounts from the profile page. Administrators can remove their church’s account from the settings/subscription page.
Security
To protect the privacy of your church/organization members, we do not grant directory access until a user verifies ownership of the email address on file with your organization. This is our primary proof of identity for directory access.
Only Deft Flux employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, support) are granted access to the Adjace database or personally identifiable information. Systems that store personally identifiable information are protected by access controls, firewalls, and encryption at rest. Data stored on our servers is not readable without the proper encryption keys.
Sensitive information such as payment data is transmitted securely (HTTPS/TLS). Payment processing is performed by Stripe using industry-standard security practices. We do not store full payment card details on our servers.
Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and improve site performance. Cookies are not linked to personally identifiable information beyond what is needed to operate your session and account.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy notice from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and post the updated policy at this URL.
